MEDICAL AND ALLIED HEALTH SCIENCE UNIT
Medical and Allied Health Science Unit is responsible for overseeing and developing an organization’s clinical departments through tasks such as hiring, evaluating, scheduling, and supervision. These professionals must come up with strategies to allow for continued growth and provide clinical training to their staff and interns:
- Develop the training needs of District staff; in collaboration with the Director General Office , and Nursing and Midwifery Unity ,
- Organize training sessions for Hospital staff;In consultation with the Director General's Office ,
- Participate in the management committee of the hospital;
- Conduct daily monitoring of quality of careIn collaboration with the Director of Nursing;
- Participate in referral consultations;
- Participate in guards, operating room activities and emergencies;
- Prepare the schedule of medical activities (consultations, daycare, and ward round);
- Ensure compliance with the list of essential drugs in force;
- Oversee the processing of all Medical Staff and allied Health Staff accreditation and re accreditation applications in accordance with common Rules and Regulations, and law.
- Provide supportive services to Medical Staff leaders in fulfilling the responsibilities of their offices.
- Participate in developing policies for the Medical Staff, and in monitoring the continuity of Medical Staff activities.
- Direct accountability for all clinical services
- Direct accountability of services rendered to patients in the laboratory, radiology, pharmacy and physiotherapy and other allied health personnel.
- Together with the Director of Nursing oversee the quality of care in the institution.
- Oversee the operation of the Intensive Care Unit, the Operating Theatres, & Emergency Service, the Outpatient Clinics and the Inpatient Wards,In cooperation with the Director of Nursing,
- Direct accountability for the training of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students and doctors. She/he is responsible for continuing medical Education and all programs in medical education within the Hospital, cooperation with other institutions, be responsible for the effective use of the national
- Prepare and assist in the development of a departmental operating and capital budget.
- Deputize the Hospital Director in his/her absence;
- Monitor safety within the hospital environment inclusive of maintenance and emergency equipments and provide advocacy where necessary.
- Promptly provide advice on maintenance of damaged and malfunctioning equipment and fixtures as well as the effective use of hospital resources
- Ensure safe utilisation of equipments.
- Provide advice of proper drugs use correctly
- Participate in the incident analysis and assist the development of quality improvement plan
